Kids' Ministry

Children during a Kids' Ministry lesson

In 1 Timothy 3:14–15, the apostle Paul talks about how he was taught the gospel from his infancy. Ministry to children is one of the fundamental goals of our church!

However, often Sunday Schools have fallen into the trap of distorting the Bible into merely heroic stories or moral fables. At Kids’ Ministry, our programmes are focused on the Bible as God’s Word. It is an unfolding story about God dealing with his world, ultimately through the person and work of Jesus. We aim to communicate this in a relevant way to our children.

Kids’ Ministry starts at about 11:25am on Sundays, before the Sunday service sermon begins. We encourage families to start the service together in the hall, and then the teachers take the kids down to their respective classrooms.

What do the kids learn?

The younger ones (pre-school to 2nd class)

The younger ones use the series Teaching Little Ones (Stephanie Carmichael, Matthias Media). This aims to introduce who God is, the Bible, and then works its way through the storyline of the Bible.

Each Sunday, the kids love learning the stories from the Bible, talking about their meaning, and then doing craft activities that illustrate the point of the passage.

The older ones (3rd to 6th class plus)

The older ones explore the Bible’s unfolding story in greater depth. They are first introduced to the Bible as a coherent and continuing story, and then investigate specific books and events along that story.

The kids are challenged to learn memory verses and general Bible knowledge each week!

Our Kids’ Ministry team

We have a team of very dedicated people from our own congregation who are committed to teach the Bible to our kids on Sundays. Each class has a teacher plus a helper.

All our people who deal with children have been through Child Protection training, as required by law.
