what is Stick?
Stick is our youth group that meets on Sunday mornings to read God's awesome word, play crazy games, have intense discussions on interesting topics, serve the community and hold socials to chill and enjoy each others' company! .
Our vision at Stick is to be a fun, safe, supporting and forgiving community of high school students
growing in Christian maturity,
bringing Jesus to the world and serving society.
when is Stick?
Stick meets on Sunday mornings during the school term.
We meet on the church lawn at 10:30am, walk to Strathfield Girls High School and are back around 12pm.
Stick starts up again on Sun 5th Feb 2012. All high schoolers are welcome to join!
what's happening at Stick?
Last year...
In term 1 we will be looking closely at the gospel, exactly what Jesus achieved for us at the cross, and digging deeper into what it means to live a gospel centred life. Towards the end of the term, we will be running our first ever Stick Youth Service!
In term 2, year 7-9 will have the opportunity to learn from the mistakes and successes of different Old Testament characters, while year 10-12 will be exploring Isaiah and seeing its important link with us today.
In term 3, we will be digging into some Stick-y Topics that come up in Christianity. Have you ever been faced with a tough question about Christianity? Are there reasons for your doubts about Jesus' claims? Then come along! It will be fun, engaging, interesting, controversial, intense, relevant, helpful and perfect for you to invite your friends along to!
In term 4, we will be taking a look at how God wants us to live as godly men and women. For the gents - learn from the ultimate man of God, JESUS (!), through a bunch of Bible stories about the Jesus people met. For the ladies - learn from various women of God in the Bible as well as Bible passages concerning specific woman-ly issues.
